Questions about Old/Vintage Art

This is a new section that I will add more to later, but for now let me answer 3/4ths of my email on this subject. You mainly ask 2 things.. Here are the answers-

Finding Old Images- Due to my years of research building this website, I am familar with a LOT of the art of our Lord and may know where to find them or if they are out of production. If you can email me a similar pic of it, give me the title & artist, or just a very good description, I can usually recognize it and send you a pic to verify. I keep email requests for odd images and very often find them later and let folks know. This is a big part of my mission and I love helping. It may take time, but its worth it!

Value of Art you own- Like all art, the beauty and value is in the eyes of the beholder. What is priceless to one may be unimportant to another. Tons of religious art was produced in the 1940's & 50's which is now being rightly sold as antiques, but they are not that uncommon. Condition is important but more value is given to the type of old frame. Unless it was a special edition (very rare), its probably an old lithograph with a company name, lot # and issue date on the back. A reputable art appraiser in your area could give you a general idea, but as I said, its more who is buying. I have bought my 2 most personally valuable pictures for under $50 each. Watch for moisture damage and flaking of the surface. Make sure to redo the backing seal & paper if it has been torn and keep it away from direct sun. I hope this helps.

PS- I am NOT an art appraiser. Know that no one could give you more than a guess at the value without seeing the art firsthand. Due to the popularity of my website, I am working on revamping my antique section where folks could offer their antique art. If you would like to offer your item to my visitors, email me your info. I will get back with you when I have this section up and running.
